Ye Olde Magick Blogge’s video policy

This is just a quick explanation of the way Ye Olde Magick Blogge handles videos. One of the thing I noticed, when looking through the video pages on the old Ye Olde, was that sometimes online videos get taken down for various unspecified reasons. To me this is a real shame. As such, I use an online program that lets you download videos off Youtube onto your harddrive, which I then re-upload onto my own Youtube account. In this manner I can help ensure that these videos won’t come down over time. Now, just because they’re under my name, it doesn’t mean that I’m claiming them as mine. Really, this is just a temporary measure to keep them up there in the spirit of fair use for posterity, to offer a historical record. I claim no ownership over these videos.

If you’ve come by a video of yours on the olde blogge, and you’d like to have additional links put in the blog entry, such as something that goes to your website or a relevant product that you sell, let me know and I’ll happily oblige. As far as I’m concerned it’s the least I can do, and I’ve got no problem offering this sort of additional promotion, given that I thought the video was good enough to feature in the first place.

Similarly, if you come by the olde blogge and see a video of yours pointing to my Youtube account and you’d rather it was posted to yours, please get in touch and I’ll make the necessary changes, including hiding it on my own Youtube account.

Additionally, if you’re the video’s author and you want it taken down just because, then I totally understand and will oblige, but please consider the importance that such performance videos to young and/or developing magicians who can benefit from having performance models to study. I’m not looking to gain anything by this, and will happily point instead to a video on a site of your choosing, but even if you want me to take it down from my own Youtube account, please consider leaving it up elsewhere.
