This was unfortunately the only video of this performance I could find online, stuck in the middle of the Elvis Poultry show. I could have sworn this was a longer routine. You might want to skip ahead to the 1:45 mark and then stop watching afterwards, unless you’re in the mood for several WTF moments. It got included because the nature of the final loads triggered an “Awwwwww…” in my girlfriend, followed by a “No no no no! Bad man! Bad!” with the subsequent gag.
Again, it’s a shame I couldn’t find what I’m assuming is the longer version out there somewhere, but the climax here sort of confirms the conventional wisdom about the cups and balls, which is that the final loads really are the trick. Now, there are two schools of thought on this. The first is to just get to the finals as quickly as possible, because nobody likes the silly adventures of the stupid little balls — if they did, they’d surely remember them, right? The second is to love and adore the silly adventures of the stupid little balls, because they end up providing the mental misdirection that helps to deceptively set up the final loads. My personal inclination is the second, but the girlfriend actually liked the brevity of this routine, since it added clarity to the climax. Then again, she’s had to watch too many of these videos lately, so maybe that’s a factor…
